Miss America Scedule of Events

Unlike one night local preliminary pageants, state programs and Miss America takes place over several days. Contestants are divided into “flights” and usually compete in three nights of preliminary competition. On the final televised night those who have the Top Ten preliminary scores compete in everything again and a winner is crowned.

State competition schedules vary; Miss Ohio requires contestants to stay in a host home in Mansfield for nine total days for rehearsals, events and competition. In the past Miss America contestants have spent a grueling two to two and a half weeks visiting our Capitol or other locations before extensive rehearsals, a famous parade, etc... in Atlantic City. I agree with many who assert that beyond talent or evening gown, the real competition is one of endurance!

Fortunately for this years Miss America contestants, a slightly more streamlined experienced will be had on the other coast. Their thirteen day schedule from The National Assoc. of Miss America State Pageants is below. Marlia's is in the Mu group. Tuesday she will compete in Swimwear and Evening Gown, Wednesday in Talent, Thursday in On Stage Question and Thursday morning she will have her private interview.
