A Wicked Broadway Debute for Miss Ohio 2002, Tiffany Haas!

For several weeks it has been rumored that Miss Ohio 2002 Tiffany Haas was making her Broadway début in the hit musical, Wicked. Not that I doubted this, I have just been waiting for a concrete link to post, and have finally found one!
[The photo of Tiffany's crowning moment on the left was likely taken by Jim McDowell and found on this website.]

PlayBill.com reported the following:

Celebrity Buzz: Who’s Who

TIFFANY HAAS (Swing) is tickled pink to make her Broadway debut in Oz! A Graduate of CCM (BFA, musical theatre), she competed in Miss America as Miss Ohio 2002. Regional theatre: West Side Story (AMTSJ); Hello, Dolly! (Starlight). Concerts: Cincinnati Pops, VA Opera. Love and thanks KSA girls, wonderful friends, especially Mom and Dad!

Currently appearing in:
Wicked
Theatre: Gershwin Theatre

As a matter of reference for those not familiar with the show, it is tagged as “the untold story of the witches of Oz” with music by Stephen Schwartz. The original cast included Idina Menzel as Elphaba, the girl who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. She also starred in both the Broadway and film versions of RENT. Former pageant contestant (first runner up to Miss Oklahoma in 1991) Kristin Chenoweth originated the role of Glenda, the Good Witch. Now you can see her every time you turn on the television as the red carpet/awards show host in those annoying Old Navy commercials.

Several songs from Wicked are quickly becoming favorites as pageant talents, including “Popular,” which TWO contestants last weekend at Miss Chillicothe sang and “Defying Gravity.” I believe the reigning Miss Pennsylvania will be performing a song from this musical at Miss America in January. Mark my words, in two or three years these songs will top the pageant "over done" list! Click here to listen to song snippets from the original cast recording.

I digress; I am so happy for Tiffany, she is truely one of the most talented people I've ever known. Best of luck to her! I find it amusing that the article above uses the line "tickled pink," considering her Miss America theme was "think pink." This reflected both her bubbly personality and bubble gum pink talent gown. While her photo and bio are not yet on the official website, I'll check back often and report when it goes up!

Congrats, again, Tiffany!
