52 Outstanding Teen Women Arrive in Central Florida and Begin To Embark On A Week Long Journey of Fun, Adventure and Competition. Orlando, FL - 52 of America's outstanding young teen women arrived in Central Florida on Friday, August 11th, setting the stage for what is yet to be a week they will never forget.
The teens, arrived in Orlando to compete in the 2007 Miss America's Outstanding Teen scholarship competition with the final winner being crowned August 19th, at the Orange County Convention Center, Linda Chapin Theatre.
With the fine hospitality of many local attractions, including Cypress Gardens, Wet and Wild, Medieval Times, not to mention makeovers at Bloomingdale's and the chance to visit the Give Kids the World campus, these teens will have memories to last a lifetime.The final competition, on Saturday, August 19th, in Orlando, Florida, at the lavish Linda Chapin Theater, at the Orange County Convention Center, is hosted by Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry and *NSYNC singer, Joey Fatone.
Over $175,000 in scholarship grants will be distributed amongst the 52 contestants with a $30,000 scholarship being awarded to the winner. All 50 states will be represented as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington D.C.
The teens have already visited Cypress Gardens, and Wet and Wild, and will head to Bloomingdale's, Give Kids the World, and many other destinations along with their jam packed week of rehearsals, and interviews.
In addition to their scholastic achievements and talents, these bright young women have also put forth their time and effort to promote and support the U.S. Dream Academy. An organization that is highlighted this year among the week's events.
"With the guidance of the U.S. Dream Academy, these young women have combined their efforts to help young and at risk children battle illiteracy. Their love and hard work will raise awareness for the thousands of children across the country who do not know how to read," said Donna Bozarth, Chairman, Miss America's Outstanding Teen.
In addition to seeing the show live on August 19th in Central Florida (tickets available through Ticketmaster), The N, nighttime network for teens, a, programming arm of MTV Networks will be airing the competition on Oct.. 28th, 2006. The N, is currently available in 50 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite television. August 11, 2006 - It's a night of glitz, glamour and tiara madness when 52 young women vie for the chance to be crowned Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2007. The competition will premiere its very first televised event on The N, the nighttime network for teens, with a two-hour special on Saturday, October 28 at 9:00 p.m. (ET).The telecast which will be recorded on Saturday, August 19 in Orlando, Florida at the lavish Linda Chapin Theater and is hosted by Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry and *NSYNC singer, Joey Fatone. Over $175,000 in scholarship grants will be distributed amongst the 52 contestants with a $30,000 scholarship being awarded to the winner. For over 85 years, the Miss America Organization has been helping young women achieve their goals and dreams. Emmy Award winning Producer, John Best exclaimed, “We are excited that The N, a network that reaches our key demographic of teens, will be the first network to broadcast the competition,” he said. “These young women are our future leaders who have excelled in academics, community involvement and true talent!”
The pageant includes four preliminary stages of judging:
Evening Wear - Contestant will model an evening gown for the audience and judges
Life Style & Fitness - Contestants will demonstrate athletic ability and fitness
Talent - Contestants will sing, dance orplay an instrument
Q & A - Contestants will answer questions from the select group of judges
Additionally, viewers will have exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to interviews, activities and special moments from the 10 days leading up to the big night.
