The Sweetheart Pageant Continued...

In addition to the twenty ladies listed about, three others graced the stage, doing a wonderful job. Outgoing titleholders, Melanie Murphy and Lauren Shatlock served as emcees and entertainers for the evening, along with Miss Ohio Marlia Fontaine. [On the left, Lauren is on the right and Melanie the left. This photo is from Renee’s Blog.]

Interestingly, their farewells were not the usual tear-filled goodbyes. Rather they both spoke about all of their accomplishments at and since Miss Ohio and how each is continuing in the program. Melanie will be back and Miss Ohio in July as Miss Miami Valley and Lauren will be trying for the title Miss District of Columbia, as that is where she attends school. Because DC is so small, they begin with a single “audition” rather than local preliminary pageants. Lauren will compete with about 30 other women, next weekend I believe, for about ten or twelve slots in the Miss DC pageants. Keep your fingers crossed for her!

As I mentioned in my pre-pageant post, this is always one of the best to attend because everyone is there to see who will win the final crowns. About half of the reigning titleholders were there, and we introduced ourselves onstage.

My sincerest apologies if I have forgotten someone, but I believe those in attendance were:

Miss North Coast, Jillian Dansko
Miss Miami Valley, Melanie Murphy
Miss Scioto Valley, Roberta Camp
Miss Greater Dayton, Becky Minger
Miss Mansfield, Sophia Davis
Miss Lake Erie, Leslie Ondrey
Miss Chillicothe, Kristen Haas
Miss Hamilton, Nicole Masters
Miss Central, Jodi Greene
Miss Maumee Valley, Abby Bollenbacher

It was great to see many of these women again, and meet others for the very first time. A few of us are pictured above and below.

For many women they can sadly hang up their stilettos until the pageant season begins again in August or so… As I said in the post below, I hope everyone can walk away with a sense of accomplishment. All the contestants were wonderful and I wish them all the best of luck in future endeavors, pageant oriented or otherwise. I was able to sneak backstage to drop some things off before the show, but to anyone I didn’t get a chance to say hello to then, or afterwards, congratulations, you can all be very proud of yourselves!

A few more fun photos are below, CLICK TO ENLARGE… but if you still haven’t gotten your fill, check out Renee and Roberta's Blogs for even more pictures.
