Congratulations to the New Miss Buckeye State, Allie Krucek and New Miss Circleville, Heather Strickland!

[Above Left to Right: Second Runner up Lauren Hogan, First Runner up Karissa Martin, Miss Buckeye State Allie Krucke, Miss Circleville Heather Strickland and Third Runner up Kylee Seibert. This photo is in circulation on Facebook; I am unsure of the original poster there.]

First, special thanks to my wonderful boyfriend, Loren, for posting the results on my blog while my parents and I were once again getting lost in the Columbus area (though we didn’t get pulled over this time)!

Second, while I know they don’t read this, I am so thankful for my parents’ home, which I grew up in; it is such a wonderful place to return to for a relaxing weekend!

Third, be sure to check out THIS MISS AMERICA PRESS RELEASE. As to not take away from local happenings, I’ll post it in its entirety and add my two cents in a day of two.

And finally, that local happening this weekend was the final pageant of the season! Many congrats to Allie, Heather and all the contestants in the Sweetheart pageant!

Allie Krucek won Miss Buckeye State; she is originally from North Canton, and currently studies Exercise Science and Pre-Physical Therapy at the University of Toledo. Not so surprisingly, her platform is ‘Advocating Children’s Health.” For her talent Allie performed a jazz dance to “Mambo Italiano.” This will be her second trip to Miss Ohio, as last year she was Miss Open City. Heather Strickland is excited to be headed to Miss Ohio for the very first time as Miss Circleville. She is majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology at Kent State, and hails from the Massillon area. Like Allie, her platform reflects her college major, that being the D.A.R.E. program. For talent she sang “Popular” from the hit Broadway musical Wicked. [On the right, Heather is crowned by outgoing Miss Heart of it All, Lauren Shatlock. Photo from Courtney Wallace's Facebook.]

The First Runner up was the lovely Karissa Martin. She is surprisingly a home-schooled senior with aspirations of perusing musical theatre. She sang “I Feel Pretty” from the Broadway classic, “West Side Story.” For her platform, she advocates skin cancer awareness. I am extremely proud of the final two runners up, as they both attend Bowling Green State University with me and got their Miss America system starts with the Miss Northwestern Ohio program!

Lauren Hogan was named Second Runner up. She studies Interpersonal Communications at BG and advocates enhanced sexual education in our public schools. For talent she sang “I Could Have Danced All Night” from another Broadway classic, My Fair Lady.

Third Runner up honors went to Kylee Seibert, also an IPC major at BG. Her platform focuses on student literacy and for talent she sang “If I Had My Way.” I believe this song was also from a musical, but I am unsure of which. [Together above in teal, Lauren is on the right and Kylee the left.]
