Best of Luck Tonight to the Sweetheart Program!

Breaking news- the Sweetheart pageant was cancelled! April Fools!

Tonight in Circleville Ohio twenty beautiful, talented, intelligent young women will compete for the very last two rhinestone tickets to Miss Ohio! This is considered the “sweeps” or “sweetheart” pageant because it is the last of the year and is restricted only to women who have already competed during the season at some point. To read further explanation and analysis of this specific type of pageant, click
HERE for last year’s post about it.

While last years’ title’s were Miss Heart of it All/ Miss Buckeye State, this year Miss Buckeye State will remain, though the second title has been renamed Miss Circleville, after the locale. For pageant logistics, click

This is always a fun pageant, because many of the current titleholders will likely be there, and in the past we've been invited onstage for the crowning. The beautiful Melanie Murphy and Lauren Shatlock will be on hand to crown the winners. Melanie placed in the Top Ten and won Swimsuit last year at Miss Ohio as Miss Buckeye State. She will be back as Miss Miami Valley; we are pictured above together after that pageant. Last year Lauren was the hometown favorite, being that she was from Mansfield as she represented the title Miss Heart of it All. She has not competed again, I assume she is completing her degree in Musical Theatre at Catholic University of America. Her headshot above on the left is from
THIS site.

My parents and I will be in attendance to support the contestants, however, I’ll then be spending the night at their home, the land of no internet! My boyfriend has volunteered to post the winners if I call him, but details and photos probably won’t be up until late Sunday. Check Roberta or Renees' Blogs which may be updated sooner.

Best of luck to all the contestants, entertainers and director Mary Ann Braden! All the young women eligible for this pageant have been working very hard for some time, may the best women win, and may the other eighteen walk away from the 05/06 pageant season with positive growth and precious memories.
